Certain schools are associated with certain positions because they are known
for sending outstanding players at that position into the NFL. Auburn and Miami
are both known as “Running Back U”, while Penn State is
“Linebacker U”. That begs the question: when is Virginia Tech going to
finally become known as “DB U”?
The Hokies have had seven defensive backs drafted by the NFL since joining
the ACC, and another signed as a free agent.

Six of those players are still in the NFL. Aaron Rouse, Brandon Flowers, Eric
Green, Jimmy Williams and Vincent Fuller have all started NFL games, and Macho
Harris is likely to before his career is over. Williams, Flowers and Harris have
all been named to All-American teams since the Hokies joined the ACC.
