Tyrod Taylor finished the scrimmage by running the two-minute offense and
throwing for a TD pass to Danny Coale. Taylor’s numbers were posted against the
#2 defense, as were the rushing totals by Wilson and Oglesby, who averaged 5
yards a carry.
The #1 defense forced three fumbles and held the offensive backups to two
first downs.
Matt Waldron finished the preseason 10-for-10 on field goals and has a
stranglehold on the starting placekicking job.
The Hokies have been working on the Alabama game plan (that’s why the
scrimmage was closed), and the Tech coaching staff will use film from this
scrimmage to make their final determinations on their depth chart, who will play
against Alabama, and how they’ll be used.
