Standout P/PK Takes Official to VT

Conor Goulding ‘s recruiting card

Gulf Coast (Naples, FL) punter/place-kicker Conor Goulding was at Virginia Tech over the weekend, making an official visit and hoping for an official scholarship offer. The 5-10, 170-pound senior, a first-team all-district performer at punter this season, did not receive the desired offer but will have an opportunity to earn one should he choose the Hokies.

“The situation Coach Beamer laid out is that I would walk on, and if I become the starter at any position he would hook me up with a scholarship,” Goulding said. “I would have to pay for my first semester, but if I make it I would get the scholarship in January.”

Virginia Tech’s interest in Goulding initially is as a punter, although he would have opportunities as a place-kicker and kick-off specialist as well. Goulding averaged 43 yards per punt this season. As a junior last season, he averaged 41 yards per punt and pinned the opposition inside its own 10 fourteen times.
