The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team will receive one of the program’s most touted verbal commitments ever today, when Nansemond River High School (Suffolk, VA) point guard Marquie Cooke will publicly announce for Virginia Tech. Cooke will choose Virginia Tech over Clemson during a 3:00 pm press conference today.

“I’m committing to Virginia Tech,” said Cooke in an interview last Friday. “I love the campus and the coaches. The kids are very friendly down there, and it’s a great atmosphere.”

Cooke has developed a good relationship with new Virginia Tech Head Coach Seth Greenberg. Their relationship was a main factor in Cooke choosing the Hokies.

“Me and Coach Greenberg have a great relationship,” said Cooke. “He’s committed to making me a better basketball player on and off the court, so I committed to him. I’m looking forward to leading Virginia Tech to some championships.”
