2011 Football Preview: Running Backs

Ryan Williams and Darren Evans have made their way to the NFL, bringing an
end to Virginia Tech’s three-headed monster at tailback. While those guys are
taking it to the next level, David Wilson will be Tech’s primary ball carrier,
and he’ll have an experienced senior providing a nice change of pace as well.

What will the Hokies be missing without Williams and Evans? They’ll be
missing 841 career carries for 4,250 yards and 52 rushing touchdowns, not to
mention 52 receptions for 506 yards and two touchdowns. Those are awesome
numbers, and even more impressive when you consider that each guy only played
for two full seasons.

Replacing them will be a rising senior who has been through the battles, and
a rising junior who is perhaps the top big-play back in school history. Behind
David Wilson and Josh Oglesby, it’s all question marks.
