Virginia Tech rising junior center Satchel Pierce has announced his decision to transfer. Pierce took to Twitter to announce his decision.
Thank you to everyone in hokie nation for your amazing support. This was a very hard decision to make. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/RpJGB2JGtT

Pierce played in 51 games in two seasons for the Hokies, averaging 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds. However, his numbers dipped as a sophomore. After playing 31 games as a freshman, he played in just 20 this past season. He averaged 1.6 points per game, which was down from 3.2 the previous year.
Pierce’s transfer means that Buzz Williams has one scholarship to work with for the 2016 class. Williams could potentially have two scholarships available, depending on whether or not Ty Outlaw is cleared to play.
I met a former team manager @ the Greene Turtle before the ACC tourney game w/FSU. He told me this was coming.
Very classy good bye. Thanks and good luck Mr. Pierce.
Ditto
Really surprised to learn that Satchel has an AT&T phone and only 32% on his battery life.
With a that name, I’d assume he’d move into the porn business
WTF ?
Chris. Please remove
Sorry guys. Meant no disrespect. Just bad humor on cool combinations of names. Street name + favorite food type stuff. My bad. Please delete if offensive.
Actually, his schollie would be on Football, not basketball.
It will be interesting to see if Coach Williams uses the
extra spot this year or 2017.
Another point guard for 2017 would be nice.
no surprising after seeing khadim sy in that tournament over the weekend…
Anyone named after Satchel Paige is alright is alright in my book. Best of luck to him.
Buzz might have 3 scholarships to work with if Wilson makes the FB team.
Not unless he drops basketball. Devin was never recruited by Tech Football while in High School so if he plays both sports, he stays on a hoops scholarship.
#wrong
Football always takes precedent for a scholarship athlete.
Yep, to keep schools from loading up track teams, etc. with football players but not having using up a football scholarship.
