Since Buzz Williams’ arrival, Virginia Tech men’s basketball has searched for ways to beef up the Hokies’ non-conference schedule. Tech has taken a road trip to Michigan and played in exempt events like the Wooden Legacy tournament. On Wednesday, Virginia Tech announced an even bigger move to strengthen their schedule.
On Dec. 16, 2017, Virginia Tech men’s basketball will travel to Lexington to face perennial title contender Kentucky.

Kentucky could easily be the best team Virginia Tech will face all season. The Wildcats will add seven new members to their team for the Class of 2017, including five 5-star recruits, according to 247Sports.
Virginia Tech looks poised for another solid season under Buzz Williams. The Hokies bring in a talented recruiting class of their own thanks to Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Wabissa Bede, as well as return plenty of talent from last season.
Catch ’em early, we’ve seen how that works
How about a return trip to Blacksburg Wildcats?
I am stoked. I live in SEC country and all we hear is Bama football and KY basketball. I am a Paul Finebaum listener as well.
What’s an “exempt event”? Exempt from what?
That’s going big time – tells you the confidence that Buzz must have.
