Hokies Offer Pair Of Prominent Sophomores

Jeremy Ruckert has had quite a week on the recruiting front, beginning on Monday with a scholarship offer from the University of Alabama. Florida State and Ohio State offered the Lindenhurst (N.Y.) class of 2018 tight end prospect on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the 6’5″, 220-pound Ruckert tweeted the news that Virginia Tech had come through.

Connecticut, Mississippi State, Penn State and Wisconsin are among the other schools that have offered Ruckert, who hauled in 60 receptions for 811 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Check out highlights from his impressive sophomore campaign below.

Also on Wednesday, head coach Justin Fuente extended an offer to top class of 2018 quarterback prospect Emory Jones. Jones, a product of Heard County High School in Franklin, Georgia, revealed the offer via Twitter.

Jones, who is rated a 4-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals, also boasts offers from Clemson, Florida, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee, among others. The 6’2″, 190-pound signal caller called Ohio State his “dream offer.”

  1. With OSU being his “dream offer” what is the likelihood Jones will attend another school?

    1. Very low unless he feels that the talent already at OSU will be a barrier to him playing.
