Tyran Hunt Updates Recruiting, Reflects On Weekend Visit

Southampton (Courtland, VA) junior Tyran Hunt has excellent size at 6’6″, 270 pounds, and he has been productive, earning second-team all-Conference 25 honors at defensive line as a sophomore and first-team all-Conference 25 honors on both sides of the line this past season as a junior.

Hunt’s potential has drawn the attention of major FBS schools, most notably NC State, Old Dominion, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, all of which have offered the promising prospect a scholarship. UVA is the latest to offer, coming through this past Saturday while Hunt was in Charlottesville for a Junior Day recruiting event.

Hunt, who plans to visit NC State and Virginia Tech “in the near future,” enjoyed his time at Virginia and praised the Cavaliers’ new coaches.

“My favorite parts were the one on one we had with [Cavalier offensive line coach Garett] Tujague. And then when coach Mendenhall personally offered me my scholarship. I give him a lot of respect for that because he wanted to do it face to face,” Hunt wrote in a Twitter direct message regarding UVA’s Junior Day, which included a tour of Scott Stadium, meeting with coaches, a cookout, and the UVA/UNC men’s basketball game.
