Nash Central (Rocky Mount, N.C.) defensive end Houshun Gaines had four tackles including one sack in a season-opening loss to Tarboro last Friday. Helping the Bulldogs rebound tomorrow night against Kinston, and ultimately capping off his high school career with a successful 2014 season, is of course his primary focus; however, he also plans to use the coming months to figure out where he wants to go to college.

“I’m getting ready to start taking officials. I plan taking one in a month. Definitely one in September, if not two,” Gaines wrote in a direct message on Twitter when asked for the latest on his recruitment.

It’s unclear how many official visits Gaines will make before he commits. He did name the top schools he is considering.

“Florida, Virginia Tech, NC State, Miami, and the last spot is open,” Gaines wrote.
