Robinson Notes: Laiti Shines Against Westfield

Brian Laiti ‘s recruiting card

Robinson (Fairfax, VA) linebacker Brian Laiti turned in a monster 2008 season, racking up 147 tackles including five sacks as a junior. The 6-3 1/2, 205-pound prospect continues to impress and, according to Rams head coach Mark Bendorf, may have turned in his finest performance on the high school level in a 21-20 loss to Westfield on Monday.

Laiti is #11 on TSL’s PreSeason In-State Top 30 list.

“He had about 14 first hits, five assists and a tackle for loss,” said Bendorf, whose team is now 6-1 on the season after the overtime loss. They take on Madison this evening. “I think he had a career high in terms of total tackles. He certainly has been a big part of our success so far, particularly because of the fact that we are young on defense. All four secondary positions are primarily underclassmen, although we are on occasion rotating a senior in there. Three of the four defensive line spots are filled by underclassmen. The three linebackers are predominately seniors. This is Brian’s third year out there, which is helping him hold the defense together.”
