George Washington High School (Danville, VA) product David Wilson , one of Virginia Tech’s top recruits in the 2009 recruiting class, is not opposed to red-shirting this upcoming season, but that is far from what he wants to do. The 5-11 running back has his sights set on significant playing time as a true freshman.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about how it’s going to be and the things I have to do to be ready. I really want to be on the field next season,” said Wilson, who’ll enter a running back group that includes senior Kenny Lewis Jr., sophomores Darren Evans and Josh Oglesby, red-shirt freshman Ryan Williams and fellow true freshman Tony Gregory. “I guess that goes for any player, but I really have a desire to be in front of the Virginia Tech fans next season.”
According to Wilson, the opportunity for playing time will be there.
