A month after receiving an official scholarship offer from Virginia Tech, Hermitage (Richmond, VA) quarterback Joseph “Ju-Ju” Clayton will make his official visit to Blacksburg this weekend. The 6-2, 205-pound signal caller, selected as the Richmond metro offensive player of the year by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, is looking forward to the trip.
Clayton, who is expecting a visit from Tech primary recruiter Jim Cavanaugh on Thursday, plans to arrive in Blacksburg on Saturday. He may not make a commitment this weekend, but he hasn’t ruled anything out at this point.
“I’ve kind of narrowed it down to three schools – William & Mary, Youngstown State and Virginia Tech. I’m not going to make any decisions until I make official visits, to see what I think of each school,” said Clayton, who traveled to Norfolk State this past weekend for an official visit. “There are a lot of things to consider. Hopefully, by the end of this month, I’ll know where I’m going. There are a lot of different scenarios to think about. I just have to find whatever fits best for me.”
Virginia Tech is recruiting Clayton, a senior, to enroll in January of 2009. The staff decided to extend an offer to the Panthers quarterback after evaluating him throughout the 2007 season.
