Tomorrow, at 7:40 CST, Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) will hold its signing day ceremony for its college-bound football players. One player of particular interest for Virginia Tech is 6-1, 212-pound running back Darren Evans , who will sign with the Hokies close to six months after making a verbal commitment to Coach Beamer and company.

“I think he’s very excited,” Warren Central head coach Steve Tutsie said of Evans. “Darren has thanked me a million times for introducing him to Virginia Tech. I think it’s a perfect fit. I think a lot of schools missed the boat on him. He loves Coach Hite. It’ll be a great fit for him. He’s going to a place where they are going to run the football.”

Evans, recently named EA Sports national player of the year, was extremely enthusiastic about his decision to attend Virginia Tech following an official visit to Blacksburg last month. The visit not only made him feel more at ease about his decision, but it made his parents feel at ease as well.

“Absolutely,” Tutsie replied when asked if Evans’ parents, who had some reservations about the distance of Virginia Tech from Indianapolis, felt better about Tech following last month’s official visit. “Mom and Dad felt that it was far away before.
