Virginia Tech Football Returns to National Rankings

One week after dropping out of the rankings, Virginia Tech football has returned to both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll. The Hokies are ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll and No. 25 in the Coaches Poll.

After dropping a 28-22 loss to Georgia Tech on November 11, the Hokies fell out of the top 25 from their No. 17 rank at the time. But with yesterday’s 20-14 victory over Pittsburgh, the Hokies are back in the top 25.

With NC State losing at Wake Forest and dropping out of the rankings, Virginia Tech is one of only three ranked ACC teams.

  • Miami: No. 2 both polls
  • Clemson: No. 4 AP, No. 3 Coaches
  • VT: No. 24 AP, No. 25 Coaches

Virginia Tech (8-3 overall, 4-3 ACC) finishes the regular season this Friday, November 24, at Virginia (6-5, 3-4). The game is scheduled for 8 PM and will be televised on ESPN. Virginia Tech has won 13 straight in the series and 17 of the last 18.

  1. I was thinking that might happen after a UVA win, but maybe VT’s getting a little more love than we appreciate. Yeah, it was a game played in not-top-25-land, but someone must have watched it and given VT due credit for a tough, tough win.
