Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball Hosts Rider in Opening Round of WNIT on Friday

Virginia Tech women’s basketball will face Rider in the first round of the WNIT on Friday inside Cassell Coliseum. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.

This is the second consecutive year the Hokies have reached the postseason, after ending a nine-year drought last year. Virginia Tech lost 13 of their last 15 games in the regular season, after starting the year 16-0. The Hokies lost their first round matchup vs. Clemson in the ACC Tournament.

Rider finished their season 24-8, going 16-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Rider lost in the finals of their conference tournament to Quinnipiac and none of their non-conference wins came against Power 5 opponents.
