Darryle Simmons is one of two outside receivers the Hokies signed in the Class of 2018.  Three, if you count James Mitchell as an outside receiver.  Not only did Tech target size this year, but they beat out a lot of power five programs to get guys like Simmons.  His other big offers included Penn State, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Tennessee and West Virginia.  Rutgers offered him before he ever played a high school game, so he has been well known in the Philadelphia area for a long time.

I noted in Monday’s Nasir Peoples scouting report that I was pleased with how Virginia Tech recruited eastern Pennsylvania in the 2018 cycle.  Simmons is the other member of that eastern Pennsylvania class, and Holmon Wiggins and Brian Mitchell did a very good job recruiting him.  At the end of Simmons’ recruitment, it didn’t seem like his decision was very difficult to make.

Simmons has no senior film available, likely because of an injury, which we’ll discuss later.  Here’s a look at his junior film.
