Bitter: Humdrum Wins Count The Same As Exciting Ones

Let’s call it like it is: That was a humdrum win.

A little over a week after a thrilling, record-setting, under-the-lights shootout against Boston College wearing spiffy new orange uniforms, Virginia Tech had a more workmanlike (read: boring) 21-6 win against a depleted Georgia Tech team at Lane Stadium on Saturday.

Despite some creative plays around the goal line, the offense sputtered. The defense mostly locked things down but did it against a team that eventually was down to its third-string quarterback. Even special teams didn’t have a clean sheet.

So yeah, humdrum pretty well describes it.
