Here we are in the bye week. It’s time to take a closer look at Virginia Tech in a couple of different ways.
First, we’re going to analyze the defensive performance against the starting quarterbacks it has faced. We’re also going to look at what the Hokies have done against top-70 opponents in the Massey Composite during the Brent Pry era and what that means heading into the final six games of the regular season. As a bonus, a former Virginia Tech baseball player did something in the playoffs on Monday that only one other Major Leaguer in history has done.
Virginia Tech’s Performance Against Backup Quarterbacks
In Sunday’s article, I noted that the Hokies are 3-0 against backup quarterbacks in their last seven games and that those backup quarterbacks have put up the following numbers:
Kai Horton, Tulane: 13-of-20, 119 yards, 0 TDs 0 INT
Quinn Henicle, ODU: 5-of-12, 38 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT
Colton Joseph, ODU: 1-of-2, 12 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INT
Justin Lamson, Stanford: 13-of-24, 104 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT
Totals: 32-of-58 (55.2%), 273 yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs
