The connections are big. There have been plenty of instances where Huntington (WV) tight end Tayveon Wilson talks over the phone with coaches before he’s met them. In these instances, it’s more about how they talk than necessarily what’s said.
Wilson has developed a number of relationships thus far. He has 15 scholarship offers, most recently from Clemson, Illinois and Penn State. Wilson has tried his best to find some common ground with all the coaches he’s spoken with. Some have been easier than others, but through it all, he feels like he’s made progress, even if he’s not ready to tip his hand.
“I feel like I’m halfway there,” Wilson said. “I feel like I have most of my offers, some colleges, some broken down, research on some. I still have to research all of them. The next part of the process is really talking with my family, the coaches and seeing how this decision determines the rest of my life. I want to talk with my coaches now, my family, then the coaches at the colleges talking to me.”
