He hasn’t been on a ton of college recruiting visits to this point, but if there’s one thing Marianna (Fla.) running back Amari Clemons is getting a good grasp of is when coaches are blowing smoke.

“During the process, you don’t want to go where they praise you, like you’re the only one that’s good,” he said. “That’s not true. You want to go somewhere you’re tolerated and not celebrated. You’ve got to look through the B.S. Don’t get persuaded so much, just because the school has things. Make sure you want to be where you want to be.”

Clemons now counts 17 scholarship offers, most recently from Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Indiana and Illinois. But he still hasn’t seen most of his offers. While Clemons isn’t sure where he wants to go next, he wants to take more in-person visits to get a better vibe of his options.
