There’s a palpable buzz around Virginia Tech, which has been included in several post-spring Top 25 rankings, including and USA Today. That doesn’t mean the Hokies are without some questions left to be answered, however.

Brent Pry this week identified three areas of the two-deep that still have his attention as his group heads into the summer. Here they are:

1. Who is the third cornerback?

Virginia Tech is more than set at the top of the depth chart, with Dorian Strong putting off the NFL for another year and Mansoor Delane coming back, giving the Hokies two bonafide All-ACC candidates as their starting cornerbacks.

But they can’t play every snap, and last year’s No. 3 option, Derrick Canteen, is now playing for Cincinnati after his offseason transfer. Tech’s lone transfer portal addition in the secondary is Kaleb Spencer out of Miami, though Pry envisions him starting out as a star linebacker, with the possibility, depending on how he grows, that he could play boundary safety or even will linebacker.
