
PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Less than 30 seconds before halftime, Virginia Tech safety Jalen Stroman brought down Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt on third-and-6 and was slow to get up.
Though he walked off under his own power, Stroman did not return to the game for the Hokies (1-2), who have been riddled with injuries through the first three games of the season.
Eight players who have been listed as a starter at one point this season have been injured. In a 35-16 loss against the Scarlet Knights (3-0), six players listed as a starter in Tech’s weekly depth chart did not play due to injury or suffered one during the game.
“We’ve got a little bit of an injury bug right now, but a lot of teams have that,” coach Brent Pry said. “We’ve got to overcome, guys have to step up. We can be certainly better than we were today.”
