The athlete designation signifies that coaches and recruiting scouts are unsure where a player projects. But in this case, even Gallatin (Tenn.) 2024 three-star Jaheim Merriweather is unsure what position he likes best.

“When the season started, I felt like I was an offensive player,” he said. “Now, I feel like I should play safety because I think I can make it there. I can play the ball and I like to hit. Before, it was running back. But I’ve got the length for a safety.”

Regardless of position, Merriweather claims 23 verbal scholarship offers. He’s gotten to know a few of those options this fall, but as the high school season winds down across the country, Merriweather has yet to take the full recruiting plunge. Looking into the offseason, he hopes more junior days and visits will soon shed more light.
