We meet again, congregating after a Hokie football loss.

Listen folks, there’s only so much therapy I can provide. I led with the Lucy booth, but I’m not going to be anymore helpful than she typically was. Eventually, we are all going to have to deal with the worst Virginia Tech team in 30 years in our own way. You’ll have to draw on your own inner resources to navigate your way through these trying times.

For many years, as Virginia Tech went decades without a losing season, I looked at other teams and wondered how their fans dealt with the train wreck of a 3-9 or 2-10 season.

• Auburn won the natty in 2010 and went 3-9 two years later.
• FSU won it in 2013 and had four losing seasons in a row from 2018-2021.
• USC was one of the best programs in the country 15-20 years ago, but last year they went 4-8.

And so on. I guess we’re finding out what it’s like to go through that, only without the past national championships to soak up our tears.
