It’s a Beantown bash as Virginia Tech travels to play Boston College. The Hokies are on a 1-0 streak, while BC’s reeled off four straight losses in ACC play. 


OC Frank Cignetti still has a pro-style approach, and I worry the most about the BC offense when it’s in under-center formations. One play that caught my eye was this little Toss Power:

Between the toss, and the QB wrapping on a counter step to make the toss, and the cross-action with the H-back, there’s a lot to digest on this call. The Hokies haven’t seen many under-the-center runs this year, and a quick-hitter UTC run with a little bit of deception could be problematic.

The big story is that very good quarterback Phil Jurkovec has been out since week two, and a bit of a QB controversy has developed. At first, redshirt senior Dennis Grosel (#6) took over, and things looked good. BC thumped Temple and beat Missouri in a shootout with him taking all the snaps, and got to 4-0. Then the ACC schedule started, and BC reversed course with losses to Clemson, NC State, Louisville, and Syracuse. How bad are things with the
