In our first Inside The Numbers article of the season, we’ll show you some interesting numbers that came out of the Virginia Tech victory over North Carolina on Friday night.

Jermaine Waller’s Alignment

One thing Justin Hamilton did on Friday night was substitute a third cornerback into the game for Dax Hollifield on obvious passing downs.  When he did that, Dorian Strong and Armani Chatman would play the outside corner spots, with Jermaine Waller playing over the slot.

To give you an idea of how often Hamilton went with this scheme, here are Waller’s snaps by position on Friday night…

Free Safety: 1*
