There are now two, or perhaps three, schools left for Carroll County (Va.) athlete Benji Gosnell. But for the former Ohio State commitment, there’s also the question of what position he’ll play at the next level.
Gosnell, Rivals.com’s No. 16 player in Virginia for the 2022 class, said he’s down to Virginia Tech, North Carolina and possibly Clemson. The Tigers have yet to offer. The Hokies are recruiting him for tight end, however, while Clemson and the Tar Heels both have him at defensive end. It’s made for a trickier decision as Gosnell navigates his recruitment.
“I guess it will just depend on the environment and atmosphere of the place,” Gosnell said. “My brother (Stephen Gosnell) lives and goes to UNC, but I haven’t been to Virginia Tech yet. It’ll have a lot to do with the environment and atmosphere at that place. Hopefully, I’ll get to see a practice, too. Just me and the coaches, seeing how the culture is.”
(Editor’s note: Gosnell is originally from North Carolina, and only recently moved to Carroll County. That explains why he’s never visited Virginia Tech despite his current close proximity.)
