Finally we come to our final Virginia Tech position preview of the preseason: the defensive backs. Like just about everybody else, I have confidence in Tech’s cornerbacks, but there are a couple of other areas that have me concerned.
David Cunningham will go over the entire secondary later today. For now I’ll give my thoughts on the two areas I feel are concerns heading into the season.
Concerns Over The Middle
In 2019, UNC quarterback Sam Howell completed 26-of-49 passes for 348 yards, with five touchdowns and no interceptions against the Hokies. That’s not a great completion percentage, but it’s plenty of yards and plenty of touchdowns. Most of the yardage came against the interior of the Virginia Tech secondary.
