Depth A Concern For The Virginia Tech Defensive Line

Virginia Tech’s defensive line struggled at times last year with some players being unsuited to the new scheme and everyone not having spring ball or a complete preseason to learn it.  As far as schematic knowledge goes, the Hokies should be fine this year.  However, they still have a large number of players up front who are better fits for the old Bud Foster scheme rather than the Justin Hamilton scheme.

Depth is the biggest concern along the defensive line this year, though we’ll discuss a couple of other topics as well.

This is my guess as to Tech’s starters on the defensive line when the Hokies line up to play UNC:

DE: Amare Barno (6-6, 245, r-Jr.), TyJuan Garbutt (6-1, 252, r-Jr.)
DT: Jordan Williams (6-5, 290, r-Jr.), Norell Pollard (6-0, 281, So.)
