There’s a handful of college football programs that have tried to lay claim to the ‘DBU’ moniker. LSU, Florida, Miami and Ohio State are among those that have used the nickname at some point. But as far as Archbishop Spalding (Md.) three-star defensive back Mansoor Delane is concerned, his future home is the real ‘DBU.’

Delane, Rivals.com’s No. 17 player in Maryland for the 2022 class, committed to Virginia Tech on Wednesday. He chose the Hokies over Maryland, his other finalist. Delane said he’s heard the debate, but felt that Virginia Tech’s claim gave him more reason for his choice.

“I would definitely say that, especially in the ACC, the name (Virginia Tech) has had for a long time producing DBs in the NFL, that speaks for itself,” he said. “Last year, a first rounder, this year, Jermaine Waller, he has a real good chance of going pro. Then, just people down the road. Hopefully, I’m next.”
