Braxton Burmeister enrolled at Virginia Tech in the summer of 2019, and almost immediately went to the scout team upon learning that he wouldn’t be eligible to play right away. After spending the season running the offense of other teams, the spring of 2020 was supposed to be big for him in terms of familiarizing himself with the Hokie offense.
COVID-19 nixed spring practice, however, and Tech’s fall camp was deeply affected due to COVID and contact tracing. Burmeister himself missed time with COVID in the leadup to the NC State game, and he started that game despite having precious little time in the system.
“I wasn’t too comfortable yet with what we were doing. It was my first time playing live with our calls and understanding what we wanted to do.”
A year later, with a season and spring practice under his belt, he feels a lot more comfortable. Asked where he’s grown the most in 2021, his response was as you might expect.
