Virginia Tech Basketball Recruiting Update: May 27, 2021

In yesterday’s article on Virginia Tech football recruiting, we pointed out that the Hokies have offered 309 prospects for the 2022 class as of Wednesday, which makes keeping up with football recruiting pretty much impossible these days.

That’s not the case with basketball recruiting, however.  As of today, Thursday, May 27, Virginia Tech is listed with a total of 62 scholarship offers according to the 247 database.  When you consider Tech’s affiliation with Nike, and the recruiting territories of the assistant coaches who are currently on the staff, it becomes somewhat easy to narrow things down and get a feel for who the Hokies might be legitimately pursuing for the 2022 basketball recruiting class.

For example, with assistant coaches Mike Jones and Christian Webster both DMV (DC, Maryland, NOVA) specialists, it would make sense for the Hokies to focus much of their recruiting in this particular region.  Thus, most of the guys we’re going to be talking about are from this region.

This will be the first of a series of articles where we identify some of Tech’s potential targets for this recruiting class.  We’ll begin today with six players who I think are legitimate Hokie targets.
