Today we’ll conclude our position-by-position look at Virginia Tech players during the Pro Football Focus Era.  Safeties will be the focus of the day, and we’ve rolled all free safeties, rovers and whips together for the purposes of this article.

In the table below, you’ll find the top safeties since 2014 with a minimum of 100 snaps.

There’s one name in the top group that you probably expected to see, and another that you probably didn’t expect to see.  In fact, you may have forgotten about this second name completely.  We’ll discuss both of those guys, plus a couple of other topics.

Divine Deablo: The Warning of Small Sample Sizes

Deablo played great while working at free safety as part of a rotation in early 2017.  However, he broke his foot while recording an interception in the fourth game of the season against Old Dominion.  His early-season performance gave the coaching staff and fans great hope for his future, though as it turned out 2017 was a very small sample size.  Deablo was a good player, and he had a very good senior season, but he still had to develop throughout the course of his career.
