Virginia Tech Spring Practice Thoughts: Depth Issues Up Front

Virginia Tech
Brock Hoffman is one of Tech’s most experienced players. (Virginia Tech Athletics)

Virginia Tech’s offensive line was a major strength of the team last season.  However, Christian Darrisaw left for the NFL while Doug Nester and Bryan Hudson transferred.  There is still plenty of experience among the starters, but the 2021 unit probably won’t be as dominant, and it won’t be as deep.

Here are the scholarship offensive linemen on the roster for this spring…

Lecitus Smith (6-3, 320, r-Jr.)
Brock Hoffman (6-3, 317, r-Jr.)
Silas Dzansi (6-5, 330, r-Jr.)
Luke Tenuta (6-7, 315, r-So.)
Jesse Hanson (6-5, 311, r-Fr.)
Derrell Bailey Jr. (6-6, 275, Fr)
Kaden Moore (6-3, 317, Fr.)
Parker Clements (6-7, 292, Fr.)
Danijel Miletic (6-3, 288, Fr.)

*Keep in mind those heights and weights were from last August, with the exception of Miletic, who only enrolled in January.  I’m guessing that Parker Clements is above 300 by now, and if he’s not then he certainly will be by August.
