There have been four schools, each of which have offered, that Northwest Guilford (NC) 2022 three-star linebacker Xavier Simmons has seen in-person. Each stop gave him a better sense of each school, but since coaches were unable to communicate with him on those visits due to the ongoing NCAA dead period, they were still a bit incomplete.
Like many other recruits, Simmons hopes he’s able to get a more well-rounded view of his options starting June 1, when the dead period is scheduled to end. While he’s not ready to push forward his recruitment yet, he said those four schools have at least given him something more tangible to think about.
“I want a great relationship with the coaches, them to have a good relationship with my family,” Simmons said. “Then, it’s good campus life, good academics. I want to major in business, so I’m interested in that. In the system, how are they going to use me? I just want to be moved around. I can play multiple positions, so I like to use my versatility.”
Simmons, Rivals.com’s No. 43 outside linebacker and No. 14 player in North Carolina for 2022, was on campus at Virginia Tech in January. He was surprised to see a little more than he expected.
“I’m definitely impressed with the campus,” Simmons said. “It looks like a good place to enjoy campus life. Michael Vick Hall was open, the janitors let me in, so I was able to see that and [was] very impressed. There’s cool stuff there. I wasn’t really able to go into much of the stadium, but I heard it gets loud in there.”
