1) What are the chances we get more portal pick-ups? Or lose more players to the portal? – VTaimhigh

Chris Coleman: I’d say strong on both counts, though I suspect the Hokies are up against the scholarship count, so at this point they would probably have to lose players to gain players.  That’s fine, depending on the position and player, of course.

The position where I’d expect the most attrition is at running back.  Here are the scholarship players who are currently scheduled to be in the program for the 2021 season…

Jalen Holston (r-Jr.)
Raheem Blackshear (r-Jr.)
Terius Wheatley (r-Jr.)
Marco Lee (Jr.)
Keshawn King (So.)
Tahj Gary (r-Fr.)
Jalen Hampton (Fr.)
Jordan Brunson (Fr.)
Chance Black (Fr.)
Malachi Thomas (Fr.)
Kenji Christian (Fr.)

That’s 11 running backs.  I’m not a mathematician or anything, but 11 seems too many.  Black, Thomas
