We’ll continue our look at Virginia Tech players during the PFF by taking a glimpse at the wide receiver position.
The PFF era goes back to 2014, and since then a total of 37 players have played 100+ snaps in any given season at wide receiver. That’s a lot, so I capped the table at any player who graded at a 70+ in any individual season. That turned out to be 14 players. That seems like a decent number, but as you see, it’s many of the same names showing up multiple times.
Year | Player | Grade |
---|---|---|
2017 | Cam Phillips | 85.8 |
2020 | Tre Turner | 82.6 |
2015 | Isaiah Ford | 81.6 |
2016 | Isaiah Ford | 79.5 |
2019 | Hezekiah Grimsley | 76.0 |
2018 | Tre Turner | 75.2 |
2018 | Damon Hazelton | 75.0 |
2014 | Bucky Hodges | 73.0 |
2014 | Isaiah Ford | 72.8 |
2017 | Eric Kumah | 72.4 |
2019 | Damon Hazelton | 72.2 |
2016 | Cam Phillips | 72.0 |
2018 | Eric Kumah | 71.3 |
2020 | Tayvion Robinson | 70.8 |
That’s 14 grades of 70+, however only eight different players have achieved that grade since 2014. That’s seven different seasons, which means that on average, only slightly over one wide receiver is grading out at a 70+ each year.
