The Jon Tenuta Hire: Part-Elmassian, Part-Kill, Part-Claeys

Virginia Tech announced on Monday afternoon that long-time defensive coach Jon Tenuta would be joining the Hokie coaching staff as Senior Defensive Analyst.  He is the father of starting offensive tackle Luke Tenuta.

Tenuta fills the vacancy on the support staff created by Jack Tyler’s promotion to linebackers coach.  However, the titles will be different.  Where Tyler’s official title was “Quality Control Coach – Defense”, Tenuta will be Senior Defensive Analyst, as befitting a man of his experience.  His job won’t be much different on a day-to-day basis in theory, though Tenuta could certainly bring more ideas to the table, as you might expect.
