This week’s Virginia Tech hoops column is coming a little early this time. I want to spend a little more time talking about Hunter Cattoor’s oft-changing role, the recruiting rankings for Tech’s players, and the NCAA Tournament.
Hunter Cattoor’s Seesaw Season
You can split Hunter Cattoor’s season up into three different parts…
Part 1: For the first four games of the season, Cattoor played entirely off the ball in a shooting guard role.
Part 2: For the next 10 games, after the opt-out of point guard Cartier Diarra, Cattoor had to make the switch to point guard. He split time there with Wabissa Bede. He still occasionally played off the ball, but during this 10-game stretch his primary position was point guard.
