Virginia Tech added a big transfer portal defensive tackle on Monday when Jordan Williams announced his decision to head to Blacksburg from Clemson.  He is originally from Cox High School in Virginia Beach, and the former 4-star prospect has played over 600 snaps in his Clemson career.

Williams is one of the most high-profile players in the portal this year, and he’s expected to immediately step into a starting role in Blacksburg.  Today we’ll take a look at what the Hokies have coming back at defensive tackle and how Williams fits in.

Here’s a list of scholarship defensive tackles returning from 2020, and those who have signed as part of the 2021 recruiting class…

DaShawn Crawford (6-0, 290, Sr.)
Norell Pollard (6-0, 265, So.)

Josh Fuga (6-2, 323, r-Fr.)
Derrell Bailey Jr. (6-6, 275, Fr.)
Desmond Mamudi (6-3, 290, Fr.)

Four of those six have played a role for the Hokies already.  Let me offer some quick thoughts on each player, and I’ll include each player’s year-by-year PFF grade as well…
