DePaul Catholic (NJ) 2022 three-star cornerback A’Khoury Lyde has a little bit to go by in his recruitment, but not much. A pair of in-person visits have given him a feel for college suitors, but it’s hardly enough to make any type of moves to this point.

Lyde now has 13 scholarship offers, after Virginia Tech offered on Tuesday. But for now, Lyde said he’s simply waiting to see who else shows interest and who could be the next to make an offer.

“I look at the atmosphere, a great education,” he said. “Football-wise, I want a great coaching staff. Defense style doesn’t matter, because I’ll have to adjust to it. Location doesn’t matter, either.”

The recruitment is still relatively new between the Hokies and Lyde,’s No. 40 cornerback in the 2022 class, but he has developed a favorable early impression.

“I can see it’s a great school,” Lyde said. “I’ve never been there, but football-wise, I see they’re improving. I enjoy talking to Coach Smitty (Ryan Smith), the DBs coach. He sounds like a great guy. I don’t know much about them, but I’m looking forward to learning more in the future.”
