Virginia Tech is 7-1 on the season, and Mike Young is sending his guys home for Christmas for a mental break, which they could probably use.  They’ll return to action on December 29 against the Miami Hurricanes in Cassell Coliseum.

With the downtime, let’s take a look at a few talking points with the men’s basketball team.

Joe Bamisile: Talented, but Be Patient

Joe Bamisile has gotten some minutes in garbage time over the last two games, and you can’t help but notice him.  The true freshman had nine points, three rebounds and a block in nine minutes against Coppin State, and followed that up with 11 points and two rebounds in just five minutes of action on Monday night against Longwood.

Bamisile’s talent is noticeable to even the untrained eye.  He’s got good length for a 2-guard, he’s got a quick first step, a variety of scoring moves around the basket, and he appears to be a good shooter from the outside.  So, why isn’t he playing more?  He was a top 100 recruit – top 75 even, by some – and he looked really good the last two games, so there’s got to be a reason, right?
