Wednesday Thoughts: Sorting Out the Last Few Days

Monday afternoon, with momentum building that Justin Fuente was going to be released from his duties as head football coach at Virginia Tech, the opposite happened. After a meeting between Fuente and Director of Athletics Whit Babcock Monday morning, the news broke that Virginia Tech is going to stay the course with Fuente, and over the next two days, both men held press conferences to talk about that, among other things.

Writing a Monday Thoughts about the Virginia game was out of the question, because I spent massive amounts of time on Sunday and Monday trying to figure out what was going on, not to mention that in addition to my outgoing communications, there was a ton of incoming communications. Put more colloquially, “my phone blew up.”

If you read Chris Coleman’s CC on Sunday article and watched or listened to our Monday podcast, then you know how we thought things were going to go. There was a lot of past-tense speaking and writing by us about Justin Fuente’s time at Tech that went on during those two days.

Clearly, it came out differently. And it’s been a hectic and interesting few days. Not just from an information standpoint, but from evaluating the fan reaction and interaction.
