The commitment to join Virginia Tech didn’t occur until Dec. 1, but to some observers it seems like the association was already there.

Salem (Va.) three-star twin athletes Jayden McDonald and Jorden McDonald flipped their commitments from Louisiana-Monroe to the Hokies shortly after they were offered scholarships. They join a long list of brothers and families who have played for Virginia Tech, including the Hopkins brothers (Antoine and Derrick), the Fullers (Vincent, Kendall, Kyle and Corey) and the Edmunds (Tremaine, Terrell and Trey). While the tradition, proximity and family feel were all factors for the McDonalds, they’ve been unintentionally mistaken for the latter family.

Jayden said on multiple occasions, including at a gas station a couple of weeks ago, they were approached by a woman who mistook them for Terrell and Tremaine Edmunds. She wanted a photo of herself taken with them.
