1) Jim Weaver, former VT AD, took a ton of heat from everyone, but how much of a vision and influencer did he bring to the VT Football success, and what is required for Whit to step forward and take us higher? Or can he? – ChazB

Chris Coleman: One time a woman in Blacksburg (a VT professor) asked me what I did for a living.  I told her.  She proceeded to go on a rant about how she was glad Jim Weaver wasn’t Virginia Tech’s athletic director anymore.  As it turned out, she was a huge VT women’s basketball fan, and she was angry that Weaver didn’t give Bonnie Henrickson everything she asked for, which eventually led to Bonnie departing for Kansas, who at the time decided to dedicate a huge amount of resources towards women’s basketball.  To her, Weaver’s decision to let Henrickson walk destroyed Tech’s women’s basketball program, which to her was the most important Virginia Tech athletic program.  She clearly had emotional ties to the program.
