In a 5-1 start, Bartram Trail (Fla.) 2022 linebacker Micah Pollard has accumulated five sacks and an interception. They’re impressive numbers that have garnered some early recruiting attention.
This month, Pollard pulled in his first two scholarship offers, from Virginia Tech and Old Dominion. Overall, Pollard said his recruitment is still in its infancy, in large part because he has yet to take an in-person college visit. So he’s made a point of working on his game more.
“I’m trying this new move, how you dip your shoulder, turn and get underneath,” Pollard said. “You dip your shoulder and create space in between. My coach is teaching me. Soon, he’s going to teach a spin move, and we’re just working on fake steps, bull rush and rip one way, so that if O-lineman has you, you can rip off and get to the quarterback. They’re just showing me some new moves.”
Pollard said he’s still developed an idea of what he wants in his next home. Much of it has to do with off the field.
“I want to work at Nike, so I want to have a college that has a good program of business and business management,” Pollard said. “I look if they have a good business management program, then if campus is a good place, if there’s a diversity of people and a good vibe. Also, just somewhere that’s close to home or somewhere I have friends or stuff like that.”
Virginia Tech offered Pollard Oct. 14. While he’s never been to Blacksburg, he said he’s enjoyed what he has seen and the relationship he has with the coaches.
“I think it’s a great school, and I hear the pre-game football hype is amazing,” Pollard said. “I hear campus is cool. The coaches I talk to are funny and nice. They just seem like funny and cool people. Virginia Tech, just overall seems like a good school.”
