This week’s Inside the Numbers will focus on Hendon Hooker’s performance against Boston College, and then we’ll take a look at the key players of Virginia Tech’s offense and their rankings coming out of high school.

The Best Game of Hendon Hooker’s Career

Hendon Hooker has been a good player for the Hokies since he took over the starting duties last season against Miami.  I thought Saturday night was his best game in a Virginia Tech uniform, and the Pro Football Focus (PFF) numbers back that up.

Here are Hooker’s top three games, based on his PFF grades…

2020 Boston College: 92.5
2019 Rhode Island: 88.5
2019 North Carolina: 82.4

As Will mentioned in his Monday Thoughts, Hooker did a great job making decisions in the option game, which ballooned his grades, and also created a ton of rushing yardage.  That was the biggest question coming into the season.  He was a huge improvement over Ryan Willis in terms of decision making in the option game, but he also had room to improve.  It was only his first start of the season,
