Defensive Tackle, Class of 2021
American Heritage, West Palm Beach, FL
While school districts and state high school sports associations around the country debate whether or not to have a fall season, defensive lineman Earl Miller and his teammates have worked out in some capacity since the end of May. Playing at American Heritage (Fla.), a private school, has afforded Miller the chance to continue to put in football work.
It’s also helped him manage his recruitment a bit. Miller now claims 18 offers, but as he nears a possible decision, he said he’s looking at as many details as he can.
“First, I look for what I want to study, athletic training or finance,” Miller said. “Then, I look at competition, someone that plays big teams. I want to compete for a spot. Knowing I’m around great guys, I want to get better and push myself to get better every day.”
Over the past few months, Miller had virtual visits with Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Florida Atlantic and South Dakota. But it’s the first two that have drawn his attention most.
“I love the new staff Virginia Tech brought in,” Miller said. “They got Coach (Bill) Teerlinck from the Bills, Coach (Darryl) Tapp, he played there back in the day. All the D-line coaches. I love the relationship we have. It’s not player/coach, but more of a friendship. We connected on so many levels other than football, just life in general.”
