From the very beginning, you got the sense that Dematrius Davis was going to be different.  Here’s a quote from his dad in an article by Jason Stamm

“We won’t get the publicity that the regular Texas guys get when they go to Texas A&M, Texas, or Baylor, but we’re not looking for that attention,” Davis Sr. said. “That was part of the process. We don’t care about the attention and the hoopla that comes with a close school. We just wanted somewhere that’s a family-oriented place, small and that plays some good, old-fashioned football.”       

Well, now, after decommitting this morning, Davis is projected to go to Auburn, where they will fire you a couple of years after winning a National Championship.  Auburn is as cutthroat as it gets, and outside of Bama, Clemson, LSU and OSU, playing football at Auburn is as public as it gets.

Davis has a bunch of quotes that really had you buying in as well…

“Virginia Tech, it was just the best school, looking at all of them. We went to a game. I committed before, but I went up there, felt the love from the fans, and the atmosphere was great.”

This was a guy who liked Virginia Tech’s coaching staff so much that he actually silently committed before he even took a visit to Blacksburg.
